lewro’s blog - 2.1 - web designer beginner

It was about a year ago when I started to play with HTML code. At that time when I opened the source code view in internet browser I saw only mess of some words which did not say anything to me. I had no idea what CSS is and how it works. I did not know anything about work in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash, Firework. I knew that some of these software exist but I had no idea what can I do with them.I had no idea about existence of web sites like Flickr, Delicious, Technorati. No Idea that something like blogs exist. Yeah blogs. I did not know that they exist and what they are for not even mentioning blog engines like Wordpress, Movable Type or Expression Engine.
So you can basically say I did not know a lot about web and web design.

What happened during that year?

I was studding. Whenever there was time. Day or night. To get as much knowledge as I could. I was reading the books which came with my CIW course. Actually 3-4 times each of them. Then I realized it is not enough so I have started to buy books which I have found on the best web designers blogs. I think they should get some commissions from Amazon. After reading of couple of books I have started to realize what is it all about. How to follow the web standards, how to validate my code etc.

After one year of studding I found out that more you learn the more you realize that you do not know that much. There is plenty to study. Things like typography, colour management, positioning of elements, editing of images in Photoshop, creating of art works in illustrator, banners in flash and not to forget about hand coding. I have to learn how to create my CSS more simple, how to use Java-script - DOM script which graduates gracefully and at the end I would like to learn PHP and other languages like French and improve my English. (As you can see from my article I really need it!). I just wish the day has 50 hours at least.

As it looks there is enough for the year which is behind the doors. I am still full of power to learn and hungry for knowledge and that will help me to go as smooth as I was going this year.
